“Dogs Exploring the World through Adventure”

F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

1.      Why choose Ugly Dog Adventures?

Your dog is #1 on this adventure.  We are a one of a kind private service that is designed for your dog to be the spotlight.  Your dog will not be grouped in with the pack here!  (Pack members from same family accepted for only $10 extra – limit 2 dogs per adventure please.)

2.    What are the requirements for my dog?

·        All adventure dogs should have a good re-call and basic obedience skills.

·        All dogs should be registered in the County of Orange and be wearing their I.D. tags.

·        Dogs should be current on flea or tick preventative or medication.  (Especially on the hiking adventures!)

·        Any breed accepted.  We do not discriminate based on size, color, weight or breed!

·        Certain adventures require dogs to be socially acceptable.

(Dog Beach and Dog Park Adventures are group activities where your dog will be unleashed to have fun with other dogs.  No female dogs in heat on this one please.)

3.    Why should my dog participate in an adventure?

·        Daily exercise to keep them healthy, happy and actively engaged.

·        Maintain a healthy weight and be a healthier dog.

·        Relieve stress and provide a good quality of life.

·        Use up excess energy to prevent destructive behavior.

·        Provide social companionship and mental stimulation.

4.    How does my dog get to the adventure spot?

We use crates for safety during transportation.  We will pick them up from you at your home and drop them off afterwards.

5.     What adventure is appropriate for my dog?

All adventures are based on dog’s breed, age, overall health and physical fitness level.  We start out slow on our first adventure.

We also offer high impact hikes with weight filled backpacks for pit-bull breeds that need extra exercise.

Rest stops are encouraged to reduce sore muscles and/or paws.

We supply bottled water for dog.

6.    Will my dog be safe?

Dogs are kept on a leash at all times. (Unleashed for Dog Park and Dog Beach Adventures)

We respect our planet and scoop all poop!

We carry first aid kits at all times.  Dog’s owner and vet information is loaded into cell phone before every adventure.

Our personal vet is Dr. Fanous of Back Bay Veterinary in Newport Beach. (Phone (949) 756-0554)

7.     Do we offer special discounts?

Yes!  We offer summer specials of 25% off.  Also, for the sick and elderly aged 65+ or senior dogs 50% off STANDARD WALKS only.  ASPCA members always receive 10% off.

8.    What about the weather?

Dog Hiking will be cancelled or re-scheduled due to heat.  Dogs are highly susceptible to exhaustion or dehydration and therefore we do not take dogs to the trails on those days.
